I've created the online Tourism Network because my dream job made me cry...

It was a dark, rainy evening and I couldn't stop sobbing as I walked home from work. I had my dream tourism job, yet I cried with frustration and sheer helplessness. I didn't know where to turn for help, or how to meet like-minded people working who'd had similar experiences. I knew I needed to build the business and market it more effectively but despite my post-graduate diploma in marketing I lacked practical promotional skills and hadn't a clue what to do! Most business support was too general, not specific or practical enough for tourism businesses like the one I worked for.

That was 30 years ago. Since then, I’ve gained a huge amount of tourism knowhow and helped over 7000 tourism business. But I’ve never forgotten that feeling of helplessness in my first tourism job. 

I understand the sense of isolation, feeling overwhelmed, not knowing which way to turn. I’ve also seen all the positive things that happen when people share ideas, collaborate and support each other. That’s why I created The Tourism Network.
